PUDDLE OF MUDD frontman Wes Scantlin was arrested on Wednesday after a tense standoff with police in Burbank, California, TMZ reports.
The singer was initially pulled over for a traffic violation but was subsequently found to have an outstanding warrant for a previous weapons charge. Scantlin refused to exit his vehicle, prompting authorities to deploy pepper spray and eventually call in the SWAT team. After a lengthy ordeal, officers used non-lethal force to remove Scantlin from his car, leading to his arrest on charges of resisting arrest in addition to the outstanding warrant.
According to TMZ, Scantlin was taken to the hospital to have his eyes flushed from the pepper balls but was otherwise uninjured. He has been booked for the outstanding weapons warrant and a new charge of resisting arrest. His court appearance is scheduled for August 20.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department lists Scantlin‘s booking time as 6:17 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31.
Wes faced continuous legal troubles, issues with alcohol, financial problems, and other challenges before claiming sobriety in 2017. Scantlin mentioned that he returned to rehab for treatment because he had no other options. He also acknowledged his family and fans for providing the strength and support needed to pursue recovery.
