Legendary QUEEN guitarist Brian May, has been awarded a Knight Bachelor in the King’s 2023 New Year Honours List. This time-honored tradition celebrates and recognizes people who have accomplished remarkable achievements across Great Britain.
After playing the iconic song “God Save The Queen” on top of Buckingham Palace twenty years apart during both the Golden and Platinum Jubilees, this 75-year old guitarist is elated that his royal journey will culminate with a sword being placed ceremoniously on his shoulder. He spoke enthusiastically to Sky News about reaching such an incredible milestone in life.
He described the knighthood as a “kind of challenge”, saying: “I think that’s the way I regard it, to do good in the world and do better than I’ve done before.”
Amongst all of his accomplishments, the astrophysicist, musician and dedicated animal welfare advocate confessed that he was “probably most proud of the tiny things that we have achieved for animals. It’s an ongoing thing, and I’m hoping the knighthood will help.”
