COREY TAYLOR: ‘I Couldn’t Care Less’ About Being Inducted Into Rock Hall

During a recent conversation with Jason Bailey from Audacy Check In, Corey Taylor was asked about which among his three endeavors – SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR, or his solo group – he would prefer to have honored with an induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

“Oh, Jesus. At this point, who gives a s**t, really? To be honest… It’s hard for me to say that they get it wrong because sometimes the people they induct one hundred percent deserve it,” he responded. “But there’s still so many groups that should go in before some of the ones that have. And it really upsets me, dude. So at this point it’s, like, I don’t even know if I’ll even be considered for something like that, and I couldn’t care less, to be honest. To me, that’s a high-five at the end of your career. I would rather have that later on.

“It’s just something I don’t really concern myself with,” he continued. “Would I be a stingy hog and want to be like the late, great David Crosby and be in there like four times? That would be great — if I could be in there for all three acts, that’d be killer. But I don’t think I’m even gonna get in for one. So it’s fine. I’ve got better things to do.”

Even though artists are eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single, iconic hard rock and metal groups like MAIDEN and MOTÖRHEAD have yet to be recognized by the institution, which inducted GUNS N’ ROSES in that band’s first year of eligibility.

In 2018, MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson described Rock Hall as “an utter and complete load of bollocks run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn’t know rock and roll if it hit them in the face.”

MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris previously told Rolling Stone that he doesn’t care that his band has yet to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame despite the fact that it has been eligible since 2004.

“I don’t mind that we’re not in things like that. I don’t think about things like that,” Harris said. “It’s very nice if people give you awards or accolades, but we didn’t get into the business for that sort of thing. I’m certainly not going to lose sleep if we don’t get any sort of award, not just that one, any award. I don’t think we deserve to have this or that necessarily. With what we do, whatever comes of it is great. Whatever doesn’t come of it is great, too.”
