During a recent episode on The Osbournes Podcast, Ozzy Osbourne daughter, Kelly, explained why she can’t eat bananas anymore.
“I can’t eat bananas,” she said. “Because, this is the craziest story, because of Brigitte Nielsen and Stephen Hawking I can’t eat bananas.
“We were at Comedy Awards in London and she was there and Stephen Hawking was there because he was winning for his episode of The Simpsons. And we were all in this holding room, and basically she came into the room when his minda was giving him some mushed up banana, and she took to bowl out of lady’s hands and start shoveling into Stephen Hawking‘s mouth, and he was like (imitates Stephen Hawking’s voice) ‘please leave, leave me alone’.
“And it wouldn’t stop. I’ve never been able to eat bananas since.”
During one of last month’s podcast episodes, Jack Osbourne shared news about the forthcoming reissue of The Osbournes, the reality TV series that aired on MTV from 2002 to 2005.
Jack said: “Hey, what’s up Osbourne fans. So there’s some big things happening over here in our world. We are finally re-releasing The Osbournes. Since the show has left the air, it hasn’t been readily available to anyone. And we’re also doing some new content around the original footage. We’re going to be doing The Basement Tapes. It’s going to be a watch party, with us watching ourselves. It’s going to be full of narcissism.”
Back in 2021, Sharon Osbourne said that she was flooded with offers of a possible revival of the The Osbournes.
Several production companies have pitched treatments and proposals for a reboot of “The Osbournes,” which turned the family into global television stars.
Industry insiders cited by The Sun claim Sharon is “open to talks” about an “Osbournes” reboot, with some predicting the family could generate as much $20 million in a rights and payment deal.
One showbiz insider said: “Sharon is ready to go again for the right deal, absolutely.”
During a last year’s episode of SiriusXM‘s “Ozzy Speaks,” Ozzy candidly shared that the show was not scripted at all, contrary to many reality shows today which are often heavily scripted.
The show, which originally began as an extension of MTV Cribs, evolved into a unique program of its own. Even during Sharon Osbourne‘s cancer diagnosis, the family decided to keep the cameras rolling, showcasing their authentic lives. The series, which ran from 2002 to 2005, is now being revived as a podcast.
“That was the most one they wanted to see over, and I went and I said, ‘Why don’t we do an extended Cribs?’” Osbourne told co-host Billy Morrison, admitting it “gets pretty old very quick when you got cameras stuck in every room.”
According to Osbourne, the concept for “The Osbournes” “grew out of” “Cribs” and “then it was an extended ‘Cribs’ for a week at the Osbournes, which turned into a month at the Osbournes, which turned into ‘The Osbournes’, which started this f**king whole thing.”
Osbourne also reflected on the remarkable bravery of his wife, Sharon Osbourne, when she chose to persist with filming even after her diagnosis with cancer.
“And the guy from the crew said, ‘I suppose you want us all to go,’ and I said, ‘Let’s see with Sharon,’ and Sharon says, ‘No. Let him stay.’”
Expressing disappointment over the scripted nature of modern reality shows, Osbourne firmly asserted that “The Osbournes” was not subjected to the same artifice. “That was not scripted at all,” he said.
“The Osbournes” was credited with being the first show where cameras followed celebrities around and led to a number of copycats like A&E‘s “Gene Simmons Family Jewels”, which followed the life of KISS bassist Gene Simmons and his family, and A&E‘s “Growing Up Twisted,” about the family of TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider.
