Kerry King recently discussed the possibility of a new SLAYER album on the “Talk Louder” podcast with hosts “Metal Dave” Glessner and Jason McMaster.
“I can 99.9 percent give you a ‘no’ on that one because I have a new outlet to present music to the fans,” Kerry said referencing his solo band. “And I just put these guys [in my solo band] together. I’m not gonna abandon them.”
In a last year’s interview with Australia’s Metal Roos, King discussed SLAYER‘s future plans following the band’s return to the stage with two festival performances in September and October after a five-year hiatus.
He said at the time: “We’re never gonna tour again. We’re never gonna make a record again. Mark my word: we’re never gonna make a record again, we’re never gonna tour again. Because that was the last thing. We said [back in 2018], ‘This is our final tour.’ It took five years for us to come and say, ‘Hey, here’s a couple of shows, five-year anniversary.’”
Last fall, SLAYER performed reunion shows at Riot Fest in Chicago and Aftershock in Sacramento (October 10, 2024). Their scheduled performance at Louder Than Life in Louisville was cancelled due to severe weather.
SLAYER is set to perform at the 2025 Louder Than Life festival, happening September 18-21 at the Highland Festival Grounds in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, the band will take the stage at BLACK SABBATH‘s final concert on July 5 at Villa Park stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
King released his debut solo album, From Hell I Rise, on May 17. In addition to King, the album features DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda, longtime SLAYER drummer Paul Bostaph, former HELLYEAH bassist Kyle Sanders, and ex–MACHINE HEAD and ex-VIO-LENCE guitarist Phil Demmel.
