OZZY OSBOURNE: ‘It Is Really Awful What Is Going On’ With My Health

Ozzy Osbourne 2022 Interview

During a recent SiriusXM segment on Ozzy Osbourne‘s channel Ozzy’s Boneyard, the legendary BLACK SABBATH singer spoke about his ongoing health issues. In January 2019, he experienced an unfortunate fall at home that caused rods to dislodge in his back and neck, which has been part of his recovery process since then.

“That was nearly four years ago. It is really awful what is going on. It is a nightmare,” he said. “Sometimes I forget. I am lying on the couch, go to get up and I cannot do that anymore. My sense of balance is all over the place.

“I have physical therapy and am trying to do things on my own. Progress is… f*cking hell, you have no idea. The thing is my head is alright, my creativity is okay, my singing okay, but I just can’t f*cking walk much now. But I am determined to be back on stage even if I am nailed to a board with wheels on it.”

Recently, Osbourne gave an in-depth interview to Forbes about his health. He explained that he was unable to go on tour at the start of lockdown due to a neck surgery from the previous year. Ozzy said:  “At the time I was thinking, ‘Nobody could work, so at least I’m not on my own.’ I couldn’t work, neither could no one else. So I thought, ‘I’ll recuperate pre-tour, I’ll be okay.’ But I’m still f**king suffering now. Not as badly as I was by any means. But I got this thing where they put these leg things on you, bionics, and you do a few exercises and it corrects your walking. Because the problem I was having is balance along with stability.

“When they cut my neck they cut the nerves. This bionic thing that they do reprograms your brain so you can walk better… It’s f**king scientific now. There was a point where I thought, ‘I suppose this is it.’ And I’d just kind of get up in the morning and doing nothing so I had nothing to get up in the morning [for] and do in the day. But now I’m working out with these new apparatuses, proving to be okay and I’m dying to get back on the stage.”

In anticipation of his upcoming return to the stage, Ozzy said: “On the road is where it all happens for me. Some nights I’m good, some nights I’m not so good. I’m getting slowly better and I don’t give a f**k if I have to crawl on the stage I will get back on that stage very soon. The date I’m putting in the books is May of next year. I’m going to get well by May. I’ve got to set myself a date.”

Recently, Ozzy had to undertake a serious operation in order to determine his future health. Unfortunately, the 74-year old has been battling various medical issues for years now – such as a fall, neck surgery and flu related hospitalization. To help him cope with these challenges of aging, Ozzy currently uses a cane when he’s out in public. With this crucial procedure by his side however, Sharon (his wife and manager) are optimistic that it will lay down the groundwork for greater success ahead.
