The Prince of Darkness is preparing for one last performance that promises to be unforgettable. On the latest episode of SiriusXM’s Ozzy Speaks, Ozzy Osbourne and co-host Billy Morrison opened up about Ozzy’s long-awaited final concert, set to take place on July 5 in his original hometown of Birmingham, England.
The legendary frontman, known for his resilience and unyielding spirit, reflected on the magnitude of this upcoming show. For Ozzy, this performance isn’t just a return to the stage—it’s a triumphant declaration of his determination to defy the odds.
“I haven’t done any physical work for the last seven, six and a half, seven years,” Ozzy admitted, referencing the challenges he’s faced, including extensive spinal surgery and his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease. Despite the obstacles, his commitment to this farewell show at Birmingham’s Villa Park is unwavering. “By hook or by crook, I’m gonna make it,” he said firmly.
Ozzy revealed that he’s been working with a dedicated trainer, someone who specializes in helping people rebuild their strength and mobility. “It’s hard going, but he’s convinced that he can pull it off for me. I’m giving it everything I’ve got,” he said.
When asked if the pressure of preparing for the show was weighing on him, Ozzy admitted that it sometimes crosses his mind. “Sometimes, but what I do, if I start obsessing all the time, I’ll be insane by Friday, you know? So, I’m just taking it one day at a time.”
For a man who’s faced decades of rock and roll highs and personal challenges, this mindset is nothing new. Ozzy candidly spoke about his struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder, acknowledging that it’s a constant battle. “I have that badly,” he said, but emphasized that keeping his focus on each day helps him manage the anxiety.
“All I can say is I’m giving 120%,” Ozzy declared. “If my God wants me to do the show, I’ll do it.”
Osbourne has previously confirmed that BLACK SABBATH’s appearance at his upcoming Back To The Beginning show will mark the absolute final time the band’s original lineup shares a stage — putting a definitive end to decades of reunion speculation.
While the band has previously staged what were supposed to be their final shows — most notably during The End Tour, which concluded in Birmingham in 2017 — Ozzy says this time, the farewell is for real.
“It’s very important,” Osbourne told Classic Rock magazine. “The original SABBATH will never be on stage together again. From the late ’60s, we’re probably one of the only bands where the original members are still alive and speaking with one another.”
The concert will feature the original lineup—Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—reuniting for a once-in-a-lifetime show. The performance will also include a star-studded lineup, with appearances from METALLICA, SLAYER, PANTERA, GUNS N’ ROSES, TOOL, GOJIRA, ALICE IN CHAINS, HALESTORM, LAMB OF GOD, ANTHRAX, MASTODON and more.
