Among the countless stories that have emerged from the world of heavy music, few are as eyebrow-raising and unforgettable as the incident when Phil Anselmo, the powerhouse vocalist known for his work with PANTERA, DOWN, and other bands, allegedly found himself in a rather embarrassing situation: he pooped his pants onstage.
This incident occurred in 1986, well before Anselmo embraced his role as PANTERA‘s commanding vocalist. At that time, Phil was still immersed in his glam phase, characterized by extravagant hairstyles and attire including silk, leather, and spandex. On this particular night, Anselmo was feeling unwell and resorted to consuming copious amounts of Vitamin C in hopes of alleviating his condition. Regrettably, Phil was unaware that excessive intake of the vitamin could result in tumultuous gastrointestinal distress.
“The first big, belting high note I went to hit, I **t bright orange stool,” Anselmo recalled while speaking to Loudwire. “And I knew it happened, so I waited for the guitar solo and walked backwards off the stage and had to borrow someone else’s worn, sweaty spandex. And woke up the next morning with the craps.”
