Kelly Clarkson performed a cover of METALLICA‘s “Sad But True” during the “Kellyoke” segment on the latest episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show”.
The “American Idol” winner’s piano-ballad interpretation of the iconic metal hit came after actress Isla Fisher suggested the idea during her appearance on the show three months prior. Fisher had encouraged Clarkson, saying, “You should do ‘Sad But True’. Your voice would be amazing.”
Clarkson has explored various rock genres in the “Kellyoke” segment of her show, delivering renditions of songs like WHITESNAKE‘s “Here I Go Again,” SOUNDGARDEN‘s “Black Hole Sun,” RADIOHEAD‘s “Fake Plastic Trees,” BLINK-182‘s “All The Small Things,” and THE OFFSPRING‘s “Come Out And Play (Keep ‘Em Separated).”
