CANNIBAL CORPSE bassist Alex Webster has expressed his appreciation for Kourtney Kardashian‘s choice to wear one of the band’s shirts in public.
Webster views this as a positive sign of recognition for the band in pop culture and feels fortunate to be in such a situation.
“We’re lucky to be in that position,” Webster recently said on The Rockman Power Hour with Jason Rockman.
He further commented: “I remember I’d see these classic shirts. You’ll see a MOTÖRHEAD shirt or RAMONES shirt or SLAYER logo shirt, IRON MAIDEN shirt, AC/DC shirt… Those kinds of things you’ll see in pop culture, not just in the music scene.”
“For us to start dipping into that a little bit… That was something I always kind of hoped would happen. I think anyone in a band [would want to] have that kind of growth in your career. To be able to really just be no one universally, in a way. It’s something you can kind of hope for, but you can’t really plan on it happening.”
In 2021, ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE vocalist, Chris Barnes, criticized Kardashian for wearing a shirt of his former band. The backlash came after Kardashian was photographed wearing the CANNIBAL CORPSE shirt while attending a fashion show with her boyfriend, Travis Barker, the drummer for BLINK-182.
Barnes referred to Kardashian and others who appropriate heavy metal fashion as “posers.” This shirt, confirmed by Kardashian’s stylist, was borrowed from Barker‘s collection.
