EXODUS’s GARY HOLT Hopes To Make A Solo Record Someday

Gary Holt Live

During a recent interactive session at his guitar workshop in California, EXODUS and former SLAYER guitarist Gary Holt was asked about the prospect of creating a solo album. He responded affirmatively to the idea, but elaborated more on it, providing a more detailed explanation.

“I’ve thought about doing a solo record for years, like having different friends play on it and different singers and s**t like that,” he responded.” Maybe someday. But I give everything I’ve got to EXODUS and always have. And when the rest of the band are sitting around doing nothing, like a bunch of lazy f**ks they are, and I love ’em to death, I’m writing or I’m doing other s**t.

“But that’s okay; that’s my role. So I never have time for that kind of s**t. Even when I have time… Like right now, with [EXODUS‘s tour of] Europe being canceled, I’ve been home doing nothing, but I need to make a new EXODUS record, so I’ve been working on that, aside from doing some home improvement bullshit and stuff like that.”

Last month, EXODUS have announced that they have officially signed a worldwide contract with Austrian rock and metal empire Napalm Records.

Recently commanding the metal world with their 11th studio album, Persona Non Grata (2021) – which debuted in the USA at #1 on the Current Hard Music Albums chart, #9 on the Billboard 200 with Hard Rock Genre chart and #20 on the Current Album Sales chart, among others – EXODUS’ reign began over 40 years ago in 1979. Hailing since as one of the premier metal legends originating from the potent San Francisco Bay Area thrash scene, the latest decade saw the return of celebrated, then-former vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza to the fold. Together with longstanding members Gary Holt on guitar, Tom Hunting on drums, Lee Altus on guitar and Jack Gibson on bass, EXODUS have seen increasing international response and success in their most recent era, and now, join with Napalm Records for their exciting next phase!
