Is SEPULTURA’s ELOY CASAGRANDE New SLIPKNOT Drummer?

Eloy Casagrande

SLIPKNOT, the iconic heavy metal band from Des Moines, Iowa, has been through many changes in its 28-year history. The band has lost three of its original members: bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010, drummer Joey Jordison, who was dismissed in 2013 and passed away in 2021, and percussionist Chris Fehn, who was fired in 2019. The band has also parted ways with keyboardist Craig Jones and drummer Jay Weinberg in 2023, leaving only four members from the classic lineup: vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarist Jim Root, percussionist Shawn Crahan, and DJ Sid Wilson.

With the departure of Weinberg, who joined the band in 2014 and played on their last two albums, SLIPKNOT is in need of a new drummer. The band has not announced any official replacement yet, but rumors are circulating that they might have found their man in Eloy Casagrande, the Brazilian drummer of SEPULTURA.

Casagrande, who was born in 1991, is a prodigy of the drums. He started playing at age seven, and won several drumming contests in his teens. He joined SEPULTURA, the legendary Brazilian metal band, in 2011, replacing Jean Dolabella. He has since recorded three albums with the band, and impressed fans and critics alike with his technical skills, speed, and power.

According to some sources, Casagrande has been in talks with SLIPKNOT for a while, and has already recorded some demos with them. He is reportedly the top choice of the band, who are impressed by his talent, versatility, and personality. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, and Casagrande is still a member of SEPULTURA, who recently announced their farewell tour.

If Casagrande does join SLIPKNOT, he would be the youngest and the first non-American member of the band. He would also face the challenge of filling the shoes of Jordison and Weinberg, who are both revered by the SLIPKNOT fans. However, Casagrande has proven himself to be a formidable drummer, and a worthy successor of the SLIPKNOT legacy.
