On Friday, August 4, METALLICA kicked off their US tour with a 16-song performance at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Fans were not only treated to the live debut of the song “Shadows Follow” from the 72 Seasons album, but they also witnessed a rare live misstep from guitarist Kirk Hammett.
During the introduction to the classic METALLICA ballad “Nothing Else Matters,” Kirk encountered difficulties with a segment, resulting in a few errors that led to him halting the performance.
He then addressed the crowd: “Okay, it’s the first show…[Laughs] I’m gonna do this intro all over for you guys again. It’s just not good enough for myself, and if it’s not good enough for myself, it’s not good enough for you!”
