A long-awaited biopic chronicling the extraordinary life of Ozzy Osbourne is officially on the way — and if all goes according to plan, it could hit screens as early as summer 2027.
The Prince of Darkness may have taken his final bow on stage, but fans can look forward to seeing his legendary journey brought to life on the big screen. Ozzy‘s son, Jack Osbourne, recently confirmed that the film is gaining momentum, with the script completed and a director already attached — though their identity remains under wraps for now.
“We have the film on the way,” Jack told The Sun. “We have a lot of good momentum on the Ozzy biopic. It’s going to be raw. We are not pulling any punches — we are really laying it all out.”
The film is being developed by Sony Studios and is now headed into a rewrite phase, but the goal is clear: to deliver an honest, no-holds-barred look at the life of one of rock and metal’s most iconic figures. From his turbulent youth and rise to fame with BLACK SABBATH to the chaos and redemption of his solo career, the biopic will explore the wild highs and crushing lows that have defined Ozzy’s path.
“If the evil overlords of Hollywood give us the green light, we could be filming in the spring,” Jack added. “So maybe it will be out by the summer of 2027.”
The announcement comes hot on the heels of Ozzy’s historic farewell performance at the “Back to the Beginning” concert on July 5, 2025. Held at Villa Park in Birmingham, the 10-hour mega-event marked BLACK SABBATH’s final show together and raised a jaw-dropping $190 million for charity. The concert benefited Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice — making it not only a cultural milestone, but also one of the most successful charity events in heavy metal history.
With Ozzy retired from the stage, the upcoming biopic promises to be the definitive cinematic tribute to his storied legacy — a raw, raucous, and deeply human portrait of a rock ‘n’ roll survivor.
