PANTERA roared back onto the stage Tuesday night (July 15) to launch “The Heaviest Tour Of The Summer” with a powerful set at The Pavilion At Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania — and they brought a few surprises with them.
The legendary groove metal icons treated fans to a 15-song set that not only honored their classic catalog but also unearthed deep cuts, including three songs not played live since 2001 and one track that made its live debut.
Kicking off the night with “Hellbound,” the thunderous opener from 2000’s Reinventing The Steel, PANTERA signaled early on that this tour would go beyond the usual favorites. They continued to dig into Steel with performances of “Goddamn Electric” and “I’ll Cast A Shadow” — both of which hadn’t graced a live stage in over two decades.
However, the biggest surprise came with “10s”, a brooding and emotional deep cut from 1996’s The Great Southern Trendkill. Despite being a fan favorite for years, the song had never been performed live — until now.
Here’s the full setlist from Burgettstown:
01. Hellbound (performed for first time since 2001)
02. 5 Minutes Alone
03. Strength Beyond Strength
04. A New Level
05. Mouth For War
06. Goddamn Electric (first time since 2001)
07. 10s (live debut)
08. Becoming
09. I’m Broken
10. This Love
11. I’ll Cast a Shadow (first time since 2001)
12. Cowboys From Hell
13. Walk
14. Domination / Hollow
15. F**king Hostile
Featuring classic members, vocalist Philip H. Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown, alongside guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante, PANTERA’s latest stretch of live dates continues the celebration of the lives of late founding members, drummer Vinnie Paul and guitarist Dimebag Darrell.
Presented by Live Nation, PANTERA‘s “Heaviest Tour Of The Summer” will roll through more than 24 cities before wrapping up on September 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Swedish metal giants AMON AMARTH are joining as special guests on the trek.
