AC/DC’s Scottish Fans Voice Disappointment Regarding Exclusion From European Tour: ‘ANGUS Forgot His Roots?’

The Power Up European tour by AC/DC has been announced, but fans in Scotland are feeling overlooked by the legendary rock band, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Instead of making stops in Scotland, the tour will cover destinations like Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland. AC/DC will also perform at London’s Wembley Stadium for two nights in July.

Disappointed Scottish fans took to social media to voice their frustration, with some criticizing the band for neglecting their roots. Brothers Malcolm and Angus Young grew up in the Cranhill area of Glasgow before relocating to Australia as children. Similarly, Bon Scott was born in Forfar, Angus, and spent his childhood in nearby Kirriemuir.

One fan wrote on X: “Not Scotland? FFS. Poor show, fellas.”

Another wrote: “Scotland is where the band’s heart is. Why no dates in Scotland?” A third added: “No Scotland? Angus forgot his roots?” A fourth weighed in: “No Scotland, no party. Disgusting behaviour.” A fifth put: “No Scotland is poor considering they are Scottish.”

The esteemed group’s Power Up European tour, commencing in May and concluding in August, will feature vocalist Brian Johnson, guitarists Angus and Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug, and the newest member of the touring ensemble, bassist Chris Chaney.

AC/DC comments: “We are thrilled to finally announce the Power Up European Tour. AngusBrianStevie, and Matt will be joined by Chris Chaney to carry the torch for Cliff.

It is unclear why drummer Phil Rudd will not be performing on band’s forthcoming tour. Rudd was temporarily replaced by Laug for the band’s appearance at the Power Trip festival.

In 2015, Rudd pled guilty to charges of threatening to kill a former employee and drug possession. As a result, he was sentenced to eight months of home confinement.

Rudd‘s legal team fought this sentence, arguing that it was disproportionately damaging to his music career. They pointed out that Rudd‘s inability to travel due to the sentence was preventing him from reuniting with his band, AC/DC. However, the judge was unsympathetic to these arguments, implying that bands can replace members.
