ACE FREHLEY Reveals Passport Issues That Prevented Him From Touring Europe: ‘I Owe The IRS A Couple Of Hundred Grand’

In a recent interview with Finland’s Chaoszine, former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley was asked about the passport problems that have prevented him from touring Europe in the past few years.

“Well, there’s a good chance I can make it to Europe in late summer if I get my passport renewed,” he responded. “I’ve been having issues with renewing my passport because I have some problems with the IRS, and it’s not really the passport bureau but the IRS.

“Since I owe the IRS a couple of hundred grand, and they just instituted a new law that if you owe more than $50,000, they won’t renew your passport. Luckily, I have some really smart attorneys working on it, and there are ways around it, so hopefully I might be able to get my passport within two or three weeks. If that happens, I will be in Europe this summer. If it doesn’t happen, I will be in Europe next summer. But I’d love it to be this summer because it’s been too long since I did all the festivals there.”

In 2013, the Daily Mail published an article stating that Ace faced the loss of his residence in Westchester County, New York due to foreclosure by a bank, attributed to his failure to make mortgage payments for two years. Concurrently, he was said to owe almost $20,000 in unpaid taxes to the county, the town of Yorktown, and the local school district for the years 2011 and 2012. Additionally, it was noted that a decade prior, Frehley was reportedly the owner of two additional properties in the town, one of which was an undeveloped plot of land.
