AMON AMARTH is currently focusing on their song “Heidrun,” launching a digital EP and an accompanying music video for it. The track is derived from the band’s most recent full-length album, The Great Heathen Army.
The latest four-track EP features an updated remix of the title track and a unique version that includes ‘vocals’ from real goats. The EP also comprises two live performances: a rendition of “Heidrun” at this year’s ‘Graspop Metal Meeting’ and “Put Your Back Into The Oar” at ‘Hellfest Open Air’.
AMON AMARTH frontman Johan Hegg comments: “Heidrun is an interesting mythological character, it’s a goat that stands on the roof of Valhalla eating the leaf of the big tree Lärad. The milk that she gives is the honey/mead that the warriors in Valhalla drink each night. The lyrics themselves are both about Vikings traveling the world but also metaphorically what it is to be a touring musician.”
