AS I LAY DYING Members Announce New Project: WOVENWAR

As I Lay Dying members Jordan Mancino, Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso and Josh Gilbert have been teasing new music for some time now. Since vocalist Tim Lambesis pleaded guilty to murder-for-hire charges, the future of As I Lay Dying and its instrumental section was unsure, but the four musicians have just revealed the new project Wovenwar.

For almost a year, As I Lay Dying has been partially stalled. Tim Lambesis was arrested in May 2013 for attempting to hire a hitman to kill the vocalist’s wife. Lambesis pleaded guilty earlier this year to the charge and is currently awaiting sentencing, which could lead to the vocalist serving up to nine years in prison.

lengthy statement on As I Lay Dying’s future was posted on the band’s website last week, but soon after the post made the rounds, As I Lay Dying’s instrumental section, management and label all denied having penned the statement. Though As I Lay Dying is technically still an active band, Wovenwar has officially been launched. Along with As I Lay Dying’s instrumental section, Wovenwar features Oh, Sleeper’s Shane Blay on vocal duties.

Metal Blade Records has signed the new act, and Wovenwar are already scheduled to release their debut single, ‘All Rise,’ on April 21. The new track will debut unmastered, but the song’s “proper representation” will live on Wovenwar’s self-titled debut album, which will drop in late summer 2014. Legendary Descendents / Flag drummer Bill Stevenson has been revealed as the album’s producer, while Colin Richardson (Slipknot / Machine Head / Trivium) is mixing the record.
