Picnic Band Terrorist Attack

In a tragic incident late Friday in Moscow, over 40 people lost their lives and upwards of 100 sustained injuries when assailants commenced shooting at a major concert hall and a subsequent fire engulfed the structure.

The venue, Crocus City Hall, located on Moscow’s periphery, was stormed by at least four individuals clad in military gear. The band PICNIC was scheduled for a performance there, as reported by Ria state news agency, referencing an eyewitness account from one of their journalists.

The assault occurred prior to the scheduled performance of PICNIC, as reported by Russia 24. State media relayed that the band’s manager confirmed the safety of the performers.

The Russia Prosecutor General’s Office stated: “Unidentified people in camouflage broke into Crocus City Hall and started shooting before the start of the concert,” according to TASS.

The National Guard of Russia announced the deployment of specialized units to the scene to track and apprehend the attackers. Additionally, high-ranking Russian officials made their way to Krasnogorsk.

Two weeks ago, the US embassy issued a cautionary notice to American citizens, advising against attending large gatherings due to reports suggesting that “extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow.” This advisory was updated on Friday evening, urging US citizens to steer clear of the area affected by the attack.
