Ex-SKID ROW Singer ERIK GRÖNWALL Set To Release Autobiography In September

Erik Gronwall

HarperCollins has scheduled the release of Power – Musiken, Döden, Livet (English: Power: Music, Death, Life), the Swedish-language autobiography penned by former SKID ROW and H.E.A.T. vocalist Erik Grönwall, for September 12.

Erik‘s journey spans from his initial audition on the competition show “Swedish Idol” in 2009, where he performed a rendition of SKID ROW‘s “18 And Life,” to leading the band thirteen years later.

Within the pages of his autobiography, Erik candidly shares his life story, from childhood experiences to his time on “Idol,” his battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia diagnosed in March 2021, his triumphant recovery, and the path that led him to become the frontman of SKID ROW. Additionally, readers gain insight into his recent departure from the band in the spring of 2024, driven by the personal values he cultivated during his illness.

Erik said in a statement: “I never thought I’d release an autobiography, much less so at 36. But sometimes it feels like I’ve lived two lifetimes in a third of a lifetime.

“I feel like I have something to share and I hope that can give hope to more people who are struggling. Life after an illness can actually be better than ever.”

Just yesterday (March 27), Erik announced his decision to leave SKID ROW explaining that he wanted to “prioritize [his] health and full recovery.”

Lzzy Hale of HALESTORM, will step in to handle vocal duties for the four concerts on their upcoming schedule.

The SKID ROW members said in a statement that they are “proud of what they have created and accomplished with Erik over the past two years” and “wish nothing but the best to him and his health. To celebrate the last two years, the band will be releasing a live album that perfectly captures this moment of time in the band’s 35-plus-year history, to be announced soon.”
