HAYLEY WILLIAMS: ‘Don’t Think That Your Favorite Metal Or Punk Bands Endorse Your Weird Incel Lifestyle’

Hayley Williams

PARAMORE recently had to delay several concerts on their North American tour as lead singer Hayley Williams battles a lung infection. The band had to put off four performances, stressing the importance of their health and their commitment to deliver a show worthy of their fans. Williams explained that her physical condition had reached the point of exhaustion.

Although a considerable number of fans expressed their solidarity with the renowned singer, there were also some who criticized the band’s decision to postpone the concerts online. These fans pointed out that veteran artists such as METALLICA and IRON MAIDEN continue to perform even in challenging situations.

On her Instagram, Williams shared a screenshot of this comparison, and responded: “Neither James [Hetfield, METALLICA frontman] nor Bruce [Dickinson, IRON MAIDEN frontman] are gonna suck your di*k for this, love.”

The PARAMORE vocalist also responded to another user who drew parallels between her circumstances and Dave Grohl‘s, who continued to perform in 2015 despite having a broken leg.

She wrote: “I have a lung infection, you soft s**t! Not a broken limb. One you can sing with for two hours, another you can’t.”

Williams ended her statement by addressing the “Internet bros” in another post, asserting that she has been enduring their criticisms since 2005.

“The only thing that’s changed is the platform from which they spew their ignorance. Don’t think for a second [that] your favorite bands — metal or punk or otherwise — endorse your weird incel a*s lifestyle. So many of these bands have stood side stage at our shows and treat us with respect. Why? Because they aren’t threatened by a strong woman [fronting] a great band in a completely different genre of music.”
