ABBATH is compelled to cancel their highly anticipated performance at Drizzly Grizzly in Gdansk on January 30th. The heart-wrenching decision comes as a result of Abbath (real name: Olve Eikemo), the band’s frontman, needing to depart from the ongoing tour to be by the side of his grieving family.

Band says in a statement:

Dear fans in Gdansk,

Unfortunately we have to cancel our appearance at Drizzly Grizzly on January 30th as Abbath need to leave the tour to be with his family and bid farewell with his dear mother, who sadly passed away a few days ago.

The special guests of the tour, Toxic Holocaust and Hellripper, will still perform the show as scheduled, and some of the Abbath band members will be present in the Merch stand to meet with the fans.

You can either get a full refund if you don’t wan’t to attend the concert, or get a partly refund if you want to see the two other bands.

Thank you for understanding, we will be seeing you again soon, Gdansk.

The concerts in Warsaw and Krakow will go ahead as planned.

Abbath announced his mother’s passing on January 20, writing in a statement:

This morning, while we arrived in Germany, I got the call my mom passed away. It was very sudden.

She was one of the loveliest and most kind people you could ever meet. A fighter, a true warrior.

Thanks for everything, mom.

Rest in peace.

All shows will be played in your honor.

Our condolences go out to Abbath and his family during this difficult time.
