The highly anticipated new touring cycle of SLIPKNOT has commenced. As anticipated by devoted fans, this marks the unveiling of new masks, outfits, and all the accompanying elements. However, 2024 holds special significance for the heavy hitters from Iowa as they commemorate the 25th anniversary of their self-titled 1999 album, which propelled them into the mainstream.
This year also sees the masked metallers introducing a new drummer, following their departure from Jay Weinberg last November. Speculation heavily points towards ex-SEPULTURA drummer Eloy Casagrande taking over the position after his sudden exit from the Brazilian metal legends earlier this year.
Slipknot’s return to the stage commenced with an intimate performance at Pappy + Harriet’s in Pioneertown, CA, on April 25th. With an outside capacity of 850, the venue was packed to the brim, serving not only as a warm-up for the band’s forthcoming performance at the Sick New World fest on April 27th but also as a nostalgic nod to their early days before their meteoric rise to fame with the success of their eponymous album.
Set list was as follows:
- “People = S**t”
- “Eyeless”
- “Disasterpiece”
- “Before I Forget”
- “Custer”
- “Psychosocial”
- “The Heretic Anthem”
- “Unsainted”
- “Wait and Bleed”
- “Prosthetics”
- “Vermilion”
- “Duality”
- “Spit It Out”
- “Surfacing”
This past November, the band concluded their final performance with Jay Weinberg at the Hell and Heaven Festival in Mexico. Shortly thereafter, they issued a statement announcing their departure
When Weinberg addressed the news, he expressed feeling “heartbroken and blindsided.” He disclosed that he learned of his departure from the band the same morning they made the announcement on social media, leaving him shocked and saddened.
