Acid Force - World Targets in Megadeaths Review

Last year we had so many great albums that I was expecting to have them back. So, I was already missing Speed Metal bands here. And then comes Acid Force with “World Targets in Megadeaths” with the striking force of the fastest bullet ever to hit the fan with their power. In fact, opening track “Out of the Trench” does everything an opening track has to do, that is, introduce the fan to the music the band us going to perform. “Out of the Trench” does it pretty well in an early Slayer style with fast and sharp guitar riffs with an astonishing drumming. In fact, on the other hand, the album warmer is just a diversion because the rest of album goes in a more Teutonic Speed Metal style.

My guess is that “Out of the Trench” was planned to be a diverse album. It’s an album that bounces from the early Slayer mood of “Out of the Trench” and tittle track “World Targets in Megadeaths” to the Teutonic Speed Metal of the rest of the album. In fact, there are times that the album borders early Thrash Metal. More notably the tracks inspired on Slayer. Well, giving some more thought, second track “Preachers of Mayhem” has also a Slayer mood with some Teutonic Speed Metal plus some Overkill. It’s a non-stop banging track that makes my dear child of the night breathless. I like very much the guitar work of it. There some very interesting lines as in the chorus. “Fast Friday” sounds more Helloween mixed with Tyrant. It’s the most groovy, if it’s possible to use the term to the music Acid Force do, but you know what I’m saying. Let’s say the track has the NWOBHM plus faster drumming and guitars. Isn’t it the spirit of Speed Metal?

“World Targets in Megadeaths” is an album for Speed Metal fans. If my dear child of the night doesn’t care about it I suggest not to listen to the album. It’s nostalgic as hell.
