Cavalera Conspiracy – Psychosis

The country of Brazil is one that has been up and coming for metal for years now. It’s had loads of talent come from within its borders, and it the trend started with Max Cavalera with Sepultura. However, times change and so do line-ups. Cavalera has been involved with many, many different projects ever since his departure from Sepultura and the most well known has to be Cavalera Conspiracy. This trio has made quite a name for themselves in the metal world, and that’s not going to change soon. With their fourth full-length album, this band further cements their legacy of madness and intensity that’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Should you be coming into “Psychosis” as a fan of Cavalera Conspiracy and be expecting the style to be tweaked or there to be noticeable changes from previous works, then you might be disappointed. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though as what we’re given with “Psychosis” is far from a piece of material that’s something to sneer at or become bored with. We’re once again treated with the incredibly volatile concoction that is the brothers Cavalera, and it’s something that we’re quite familiar with at this point, and that can easily be something that turns many people off from this new helping of chaos. However, “Psychosis” brings together so many different elements of what made the Cavalera brothers modern legends in the first place into one monstrous album that doesn’t know when to stop. These nine tracks combine many classic elements of extreme metal from thrash, death, and even a little bit of black to really allow “Psychosis” to pack a true punch to the nads that you’ll be feeling for days afterward. The album takes no prisoners from start to finish and truly shows off what this trio is capable of, and it’s no less than an absolute onslaught that does nothing but justice for the legendary name of Cavalera, and Cavalera Conspiracy is the best vessel to do such.

Cavalera Conspiracy has never been one to disappoint its fans or other fellow heat seekers, and this record is no different. “Psychosis” follows a distinct style that the Cavalera brothers have been associated with for years and it continues to work with immense success even to this day. This record is one that is made for longtime fans, people who want to hear a modern legend at work yet again, and those who simply want to bathe in a soundscape that is all but monstrously vicious.
