MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine was recently interviewed by Matheus Ulliana of Rádio Kiss FM.
Amidst their conversation, Ulliana asked about Mustaine if he knows any Brazilian songs, to which he responded: “Look, you know… My God, Matheus, if I tell you the song you’ll think I’m crazy.
“The only Brazilian song I know is [Mustaine starts humming ‘Mas, Que Nada!’], whatever that is. Yeah! I don’t know the name. Kiko [Loureiro, former MEGADETH guitarist] would know. We always joked about it. We were listening to a song and he was like: ‘Ah, did you know that this song is Brazilian?’. And I was like: ‘Ah, I didn’t know that'”.
“I don’t know any other Brazilian artist besides Kiko,” Mustaine added. “But SEPULTURA , I know they’re good, but I don’t know any of their songs.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Mustaine pondered the latest alteration in MEGADETH‘s lineup and the possibility of inviting Kiko into the lineup for their forthcoming performances.
Mustaine responded: “We’ve got a new guitar player [Teemu Mäntysaari] playing. Kiko needed to go home to stay with his family, and it was a really great time together for a while. And now we’ve got a replacement that Kiko had recommended for us that is a really great fit.”
“I don’t think right now that’s something that Kiko‘s interested in, because he left for a reason, to be with his family,” Dave continued. “He needs to be there. And if the time presents itself in the future, I’m not opposed to it. We just got done playing [a couple of shows] with [former MEGADETH guitarist] Marty [Friedman]. So, that kind of shows you how I feel about that. But I’m trying to be a little realistic about stuff. I know if it was me, the last thing I would do is quit a band I love to be home with my family and then go back out on the road with the band that I quit.”
