Ironbound – Serpent’s Kiss Review

There are some albums we receive here which make me think if I am doing it right. I mean, I don’t really know if I can tell exactly what I feel because it might offensive. Well, as I don’t mean any disrespect because I think all bands have the right of play the music they think it’s great for them even when their music reminds other bands. From where I’m standing this is a natural thing because we all have our own idols and we do want to pay them a tribute. No news about that. I have writeen a lot about this here. Ok, then, the very first seconds of Ironbound’s “Serpent’s Kiss” made me remind another band. As I always do I gave the band a try and listened to all the album. More than once. “Serpent’s Kiss” does remind a time of a very important band. A time many fans think ill of it. The band is Iron Maiden and the time is Blaze Bayley’s era. My opinion is that his era isn’t that bad. I personally like the two albums he recorded with Iron Maiden. Are they very different from the classic Iron Maiden? Yes, they are. One of the reasons I like them. In fact, I saw four Iron Maiden’s gigs. Two of them with Blaze. I liked what I saw and heard. My guess is Ironbound do agree with me.

“Serpent’s Kiss” is the band’s sophomore album. I can’t say about their debut album “The Lightbringer” because I haven’t heard it. But this album has clear influences of Iron Maiden and Blaze Bayley. That said I don’t if it’s fair with the band to compare both bands, so I’ll write about what I hear. The album is really exciting. All eight tracks are full of energy with a very competent musicianship. If the intent is to pay a tribute they did it right. If it isn’t the music in here is good enough to talk for it’s own sake. Suffice to say Ironbound bring here all the great things that made the other band great. Maybe it’s better to say we have here a great sample of NWOBHM, the manner the band presents itself. So, I’ll invite you my dear child of the night to listen to “Serpent’s Kiss” and draw your own conclusions.
