Miles2Fall – Lower Skies Review

Hmm, those guitar riffs made of phrases that sound endless as they are connecting to each other. Check.

Album with songs with lots of variations and shifts of all kinds that don’t sound boring at all. Check.

Neat instrumentals showing the band has given a lot of thought on writing the songs. Check.

Songs that make a bridge from the past to the future. Check.

A vocalist that sound out of tune and time, but, still, and maybe because of that, make the songs even more interesting. Check.

Pretty good checklist, huh? Yeah, I thought so too.

Here we’ve got Miles2Fall with their debut album named “Lower Skies,” an album that goes from Judas Priest to Nine Inch Nails in the beat of a heart, if you know what I mean. Two very different Metal states of mind, if I may. Though its beginning doesn’t sound too promising with some electronic effects giving the idea it’s modern Metal song to come the thing does go right when vocals burst. As I said before, I can’t help it with the impression vocals are totally out, even thought, from where I’m standing this is the charm of the album. Going further with the track listing, I found it a bit cocky to call warmer track “Greater Sound,” but that’s alright. We all have to be cocky once in a while. From then on, everything changes with following track “My Dominion” with a more groovier mood and more acid vocals. That’s the thing that calls the eye about the album which goes making shifts on the mood in each track. The only thing that connects all the tracks is the electronic effects, however, they do change as well. I’d say this combination the band does in tittle track “Lower Skies” is pretty interesting even though the modern Metal mood. On the other hand, this combination of Old School Heavy Metal with some modern features is the face of Miles2Fall and what gives them their personality, a rare thing to find these days. And then come some acoustic guitars of “Distance” which gave me the impression of a total chill out. The kind of track bands add to albums, or gigs, as a chill out moment. The female vocals reinforced the idea. Super cool moment of the album.

“Lower Skies” is an album that might please both old school and modern fans as they combine both features in a way that works pretty fine. Well, I had a great time indeed.

Miles2Fall “Lower Skies” was self-released on January 12th.
