Post Malone and Eddie Vedder teamed up unexpectedly for a collaborative performance during the Reportin’ For Duty charity concert in Shelbyville, Tennessee on Saturday evening.
Together, they delivered renditions of PEARL JAM’s “Better Man” and Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.”
The unique duet unfolded at the Humble Baron, situated at the Nearest Green Whiskey Distillery, famous as “the world’s longest bar.” Now in its second year, the tribute event pays homage to the late comedian Leslie Jordan while also generating donations for the EB Research Partnership (EBRP). Alongside Malone and Vedder, the concert showcased the musical prowess of Jelly Roll, THE WAR AND TREATY, Ruby Amanfu, Jake Wesley Rogers, and Dan Spencer.
In 2022, Posty showcased his talent for covering PEARL JAM songs, performing “Last Kiss” during an acoustic set in Rome, Italy, and delivering a rendition of “Better Man” on the Howard Stern show.
During a Howard Stern appearance, Posty revealed that he was first made aware of PEARL JAM by his older brother, Jordan, who was a marine stationed in Hawaii. “We went out to go see him. I was 12, 13, maybe, and he played this song. We were driving around, and this was done in an island you can drive around in a couple hours. And he played it, and I guess I’ve just been thinking about that a lot lately,” Post Malone said.
When asked by Stern if the song reminded him of his brother, he responded, “Every moment. And it makes me f*ckin’ cry. He is just a beautiful man. And he introduced me to PEARL JAM in a big f*ckin’ way.”
