In a recent interview with Metal Hammer magazine, Sebastian Bach revisited the long-standing issue of not having performed alongside the other members of the classic SKID ROW lineup for nearly thirty years.
“For me, doing three albums with SKID ROW, I was just getting started. I didn’t think it would be over and done with so quick,” he said.
Asked whether he envisions the other members of SKID ROW‘s classic lineup ever agreeing to a reunion, Sebastian responded: “I can definitely see that happening considering they play the same songs I play.
“When I get a substantial royalty check for an album I did with musicians that I haven’t been in the same room with since 1996, I feel like a piece of s**t. Because we should be giving something back to the fans that have made this great life possible.”
Earlier this week, singer Erik Grönwall announced his decision to leave SKID ROW explaining that he wanted to “prioritize [his] health and full recovery.”
Lzzy Hale of HALESTORM will step in to handle vocal duties for the four concerts on their upcoming schedule.
The SKID ROW members said in a statement that they are “proud of what they have created and accomplished with Erik over the past two years” and “wish nothing but the best to him and his health. To celebrate the last two years, the band will be releasing a live album that perfectly captures this moment of time in the band’s 35-plus-year history, to be announced soon.”
Bach previously spoke to “Behind The Velvet Rope” podcast about his thoughts on the possibility of a reunion with the other members of the classic SKID ROW lineup.
“We haven’t been in the same room since 1996. That’s a fact,” he said. “So I don’t have anything against anybody from 1996. I don’t even barely remember 1996. [Laughs] So, I mean, the fact that we’re all still alive, I would say, yes, I think if we can figure out the business side of it, then there’s no reason why not to.”
“I will tell you this. I have a brand new [solo] single called ‘What Do I Got To Lose?’ that’s available now on all streaming platforms, and the video is out on YouTube. And playing the drums in my new video is none other than Rob Affuso, the drummer from [the classic lineup of] SKID ROW.”
Regarding the conditions required for the entire classic SKID ROW lineup to come together and perform once again, Sebastian expressed the following: “I’m sure you’ve seen the METALLICA documentary Some Kind Of Monster where they have all the therapist and everybody. ‘We have to stop at 4 p.m.’ I’m sure you’ve seen that. It’s all about the band working with a therapist. SKID ROW never worked with no therapist. We didn’t have anybody at all trying to help us out or be a mediator — that never happened ever.
“So, I don’t understand when I read, like, a book on AEROSMITH or a book on MÖTLEY CRÜE or a book on the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, all these bands have therapists that work stuff out in between the band members. I don’t understand why we never even tried anything like that. We can’t even text each other. Well, why does every other band get [a therapist], but we don’t? So that kind of pisses me off a bit.”
