In a recent episode of “Talk Is Jericho”, the podcast of Chris Jericho, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine talks what it would take for another ‘Big Four’ concert to happen.
He says: “I think that the ‘Big Four’ thing that we did, it was really important. It was necessary for a lot of different reasons. You know, if it happens again, that would be great. If it doesn’t, the people who got to see it got to see something really remarkable.”
He added: “Am I supposed to doing it? You know, it would have to be the right thing. I think that, you know, MEGADETH is at a place right now where we’re successful to a degree where we would be happy continuing to do what we do on our own. So if we’re gonna do another ‘Big Four’ thing, I would want it to be something where we walk away as content as METALLICA does from something like that. It’s not METALLICA and three other dudes.”

In September 2009, it was announced that METALLICA‘s Lars Ulrich was attempting to assemble a tour with the “Big Four” on one bill. The bands shared the stage for seven shows during the Sonisphere Festival concert series. The first gig took place in Warsaw, Poland, and the last one was in Istanbul, Turkey. In May 2010, Metallica announced that the concert in Sofia, Bulgaria on June 22, 2010 would be transmitted via satellite to movie theaters across the United States, Europe, Canada, and Latin America. The show also provided the historic moment of all current members of the Big Four (with the exception of SLAYER members Tom Araya, Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman) sharing the stage to perform the song “Am I Evil?” by DIAMOND HEAD.
