Trick or Treat – A Creepy Night Alive Review

One more alive album to go. Just because some time ago I said something about not having enough alive albums to review. From where I’m standing, alive albums are the apex of a band’s career, you know, it’s the crowning of years and years of hard work that gets its way in an album. I’m sure, you my child if the night, have by heart the name of many alive albums. To prove my point, “A Creepy Night Alive” is here to celebrate Trick or Treat’s 20th anniversary. The masters of the so-called “happy metal” plot are releasing their first alive album.

Musicwise, “A Creepy Night Alive” is an alive compilation of the band’s most successful tracks, or, looking the other way, a parade of the band’s 20th career’s anniversary. As the press release says “from the very first Helloweenish steps up to the current, brilliant and personal interpretation of the ‘happy metal’ plot, passing through the most memorable and fun songs scattered throughout all their works.” From album opener “IntroCreepy Symphony” to grand finale “Like Donald Duck” it’s a parade of Trick or Treat’s best moments. For that reason, the album allows the fan to follow the band’s progress from the aforementioned Helloweenish steps up to finally reach their own way. Not easy, though. Tracks as “Libra One Hundred Dragons Force” showcase this evolution. Or even “Take Your Chance” with its midtempo balance. Interestingly, it’s possible to feel the band’s complicity with its public. A thing only possible with alive albums.

“A Creepy Night Alive” is an alive album that will please not only Trick or Treat’s fans but all Metal fans who love alive albums. Some moments are of a pure poetry as when Chiara Tricarico shares vocals in the beautiful and touchy “Tears Against Your Smile.” Trick or Treat really knew how to get the best from this chance. Other are pure fun as “Like Donald Duck.” Where did they get this idea? Yeah, this has been a great year for alive albums I must say.

Trick or Treat “A Creepy Night Alive” will be released on December 08th via Scarlet Records.
