Created in 2018 by the restless mind of the Italian bassist, songwriter and producer Massimiliano ‘MarFi’ Gentilini, the passion for bands like King Crimson or Dream Theater created the ambition to form a progressive music project band, mixing classic progressive elements with other not so typical styles. Joining forces with keyboardist and arranger Rafa Rodriguez, guitarist Mario Jovic and drummer Abel Sequera, in 2018 under the name of Aran Prog Project the first single of the future album, ‘Cambrian,’ is recorded, with a studio live video. The following year will begin the collaboration with drummer and youtuber Cameron Fleury, who will participate in the next three singles and who will record most of the drums for this first project. With him, and many more guests, Aran will record three more singles to promote the upcoming album, every song always accompanied by lyrics videos or live.
Four years, and twenty musicians later, the first complete conceptual album of the ‘Aran’ project, called ‘EVO – A progressive journey,’ has been released in January 2022. Once the album was finished, a fixed line-up of the band was created, with musicians from the rock university of Barcelona ‘Jam Session’ school, preparing for live shows and for the next album.
