Night Gaunt – The Room

Doom metal bands are the ones which represent best Metal essence. They capture all the dark and somber essence of Metal in the form of music. If you think right, they are also one of the first Metal’s subgenres because they are all heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, one of the first Metal bands ever – remember I said here that I don’t believe Black Sabbath were the one, but one of the. Night Gaunt represent very well the universe of Doom Metal bands with “The Room,” a great name by the way and a great title track. “The Room” is as dark as a plumbeous sky, somber as my sense of humor when my pay is getting over. Guitars are almost movementless due to the very slow movement they make. As I said, the very essence of Doom Metal and Heavy Metal itself.

I wrote here once that I like those top-tier shoegazed vibes because it obliges bands to have creative harmonies. Not only harmonies, but also guitar tones because listeners have the time to pay attention to guitar tones. Night Gaunt guitars have a great tone. Deep and strong with an amazing distortion color – oops, no color at all, we’re talking about Doom.

Night Gaunt with “The Room” also feature great guitar interventions. “Penance” has lots of them. Some doom bands forget about guitar solos. To me they are the very essence of Metal. Nah, nah, nah. I love guitar solos, okay! A Metal song without guitar solos is like a body without soul. Zenn does a great guitar work in “The Room” interwove by great bass lines done by Araas who can fill in the blanks with perfection. In my opinion, many bands ‘forget’ to give their bassists a chance. They are not there only to fill in the blanks, but also to give more color – oops, again – to the music.

Well, if you are into Doom Metal, Night Gaunt with “The Room” will help go through the rough days.

Night Gaunt “The Room” will be released on November 2nd (The day of the dead) via Terror From Hell Records.
