At first, the chaotic dissonances and white noise gape even the most loyal and experimented fan of Death Metal. Well, as we all know Death Metal isn’t an easy listening kind of music. On the contrary, it is the kind of music that requires a certain “training” to get used to it. From where I’m sitting, it took me some years to start liking the subgenre and to appreciate it. It’s hardly unlikely that someone likes Death Metal at first listening. Well, I guess. And what to say about a dissonant technical Death Metal band? Most unlikely.
Right, here we have Atræ Bilis with “Divinihility” which happens to be this kind of monster. I say monster because the sonancy is a monster and an ugly monster. Of course, to be a monster for a Death Metal band is a compliment, and a dear and expected compliment. Though “Divinihility” is an EP, it is possible to check on the band perfectly. At first with “Gnode” the fan feels the power and the vibe that Atræ Bilis want to pass on to the fan. The song is full of ups and downs scales choosing the notes that sound the most dissonant giving a mesmerizing and confusing effect. The fan feels a little dizzy with all those. There is also some groovy feeling that comes with it. “Sulphur Curtain” sounds a bit standard with not so much features of the band’s intent. Following track “Phantom Veins Trumpet” is more dissonant and technical trying some uncanny and unnatural guitar riffing and lots of guitar squeaks and echoes. Vocals are full of wrath and out of this worldly. Sick song. “Ectopian” has some graying death growls that scares the hell out of me. The simplicity of the final guitar riffing has a striking effect combined with the sick drumming. Yeah, right. But, the cherry of the cake is “A Ceremony of Sectioning” that added some jazzy elements that made the song much more dissonant, if you ask me.
I guess all death Metal fans should give “Divinihility” a chance. The kind of album that brings some outraging news and tendencies that possibly will be part of future Death Metal tracks.
Atræ Bilis “Divinihility” will be released on August 14th via Transcending Obscurity Records.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
