Charly and Kim met in December 2021 at Rock N’Eat bar during the Mo(r)moros Death Fest in Lyon. The conversation started on whisky coke and quickly turned to fight movies, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal in the lead, then to music. Kim had left the thrash band Shotgun Logic and wanted to sing heavy metal, while Charly, newly arrived in the region, had some compositions but no one to play them: Star Rider were born.
During this evening, Charly also met the sexy Läther (ex-Electric Shock, ex-Butchered, ex-Rising Steel) to whom he offered the position of lead guitarist. Kim’s sister Victoria was hired as bass player, and after some rehearsals with Nick Crash on drums, Duncan finally joined the band behind the cymbals. Being fans of Hard Rock, AOR, NWOBHM, Heavy/Speed, Glam and Thrash, the members of Star Rider draw most of their influences from the late seventies and early eighties, with bands like Motörhead, Diamond Head, Saxon, Def Leppard, Scorpions, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Exciter, Dokken, Warning and Enforcer. Their music mixes melody and powerful riffs, sometimes speed, other times sexy mid-tempo beats.
Their themes are diverse, sometimes light (alcohol, partying, sex, big bikes, speed), sometimes deeper (space, spirituality, love, death, difficulties in the music world). The band recorded their first self-titled EP at the Noise Maker Studio in Lyon in July 2022, for which Alex (Takedöwn, Vinjo) played the bass and later became a permanent member.
The EP was released on November fifth, 2022, the date of their first concert at Rock N’Eat in Lyon, the birthplace of the band: the circle is complete!

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
